While appearing together as virtual guests on The Ellen Show on March 15, Brooks and Yearwood talked about how they fared while in quarantine together last month after Yearwood contracted COVID. According to Brooks, the pair used this time to work on their marriage.ae0fcc31ae342fd3a1346ebb1f342fcb “We used it to work on ourselves because we were by ourselves for two weeks, almost three weeks,” Brooks said. He added that they attacked “some of the hardest things” that have annoyed either of them over the course of their marriage. “And it was like living in a little house. You couldn’t go anywhere, so you couldn’t walk away from the conversation,” he explained. And for more A-list relationships, This Celebrity Couple Is Defending Their 35-Year Age Gap. Having hard conversations about your marriage while in quarantine may be the way to go—Brooks said he thinks the time they spent really helped. “I thought it was great,” he said. “I think we came out the other end even closer and tighter than we were when we went in.” Yearwood echoed Brooks’ assessment of the time they spent together during quarantine, saying, “If you can talk about the hard stuff, it’s good. And we’re in this for the long haul.” And for more celebrity content delivered straight to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter. Yearwood announced that she was finally COVID negative in a March 8 Facebook post. In her post, she credited Brooks for staying with her and helping her through the illness. “My incredible husband is literally Superman and never got COVID, but still took all the precautions to keep everyone we know and love safe,” she wrote in her post. During the Ellen Show interview, Brooks said that he and Yearwood had to wait through a winter snowstorm before they could get tested for COVID after finding out they were exposed—which meant that he was with Yearwood for around six or seven days before they found out that she was actually positive. “When she did end up testing positive, I thought, ‘Well, geez, if I haven’t gotten it in six or seven days’… and four tests in, I tested negative every time. I don’t know how it happened,” he said. “I’m just happy that I got to be with her through it all.” And for more stars who contracted coronavirus, Gwyneth Paltrow Just Revealed the 3 COVID Symptoms She Can’t Get Rid of. Brooks and Yearwood celebrated their 15-year anniversary during the coronavirus pandemic. The couple first met in the late ’80s, according to Brooks, but didn’t get married until 2005. “This is the second 15 years of our life,” Brooks said during his Facebook live show, Studio G, on Dec. 7. “That’s the crazy thing. We met in ‘87, ‘88—got married in 2005. So, we went through the first phase as friends, and [then] the first 15 years as husband and wife.” He added that the years married to Yearwood have “definitely been the best 15 years of [his] life.” And for more celebrity marriages, check out these 13 Celebrities Who Married Their High School Sweethearts.
